A Visual Journey Through Magnetohydrodynamics

A clear introduction to magnetohydrodynamics—a field of research that investigates how flowing liquids and gases interact with magnetic fields. In addition to technical applications, the focus is on major questions in geophysics and astrophysics: Where do the Earth’s and Sun’s magnetic fields come from? At HZDR, we are experimentally investigating this dynamo process using the large-scale research facility DRESDYN, where we operate a gyroscopic dynamo weighing over 100 tons.
