High-temperature superconductors have fascinating properties. At low temperatures, they can not only carry electrical current without loss, but also store magnetic fields. This allows us to make objects float without contact. How this works in detail and what can be done with it is explained using our superconducting railway.

Nanolithography and Atomic Force Microscopy at the Nanoscale: My Personal Nameplate

During a visit to the atomic force microscopy lab (AFM), you will gain insights into the principles and applications of AFM and experience a live demonstration of nanolithography. If you wish, your name can be written onto a small silicon substrate using nanolithography. You will receive this “nameplate” along with a printed image of the microscopic structure as a souvenir to take home (duration approx. 10 minutes).
