(in)visible Light in science, technology and art

Description

The exhibition LICHTLINIEN uses current projects from the Dresden area to show how radiation is measured, used, and shaped — from thermal imaging to material properties.

At interactive stations, visitors can experiment for themselves. In (In)visible Selfies, they can discover how infrared sensors can “see through” certain materials. Spectral Objects use polarized light to reveal hidden structures in everyday items. *Glowing Minerals* demonstrate how UV light makes stones glow — and what this reveals about their composition.

The exhibition also features artistic works from a residency by the Dresden University of Fine Arts at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, as well as a camera obscura. These works bring together measurability and imagination, experiment and intuition. The result is a multifaceted exploration of light as a physical phenomenon, a cosmos of innovation, and a medium of perception and speculative knowledge.

The exhibition is aimed at anyone interested in science and is free of charge.
