Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer, who became famous not only for his gruesome deeds but also for his letters to the London police. These letters inspired many copycats to write similar letters – but which ones were actually penned by Jack the Ripper himself and which ones were not? In the interactive workshop you will learn how forensic linguistics managed to solve this case in the present and how it assists in solving other criminal cases.

In the workshop, guests are invited to consider case studies from forensic linguistics and to try to solve them on their own under our guidance. In addition to these interactive activities, the workshop also offers the opportunity to look at texts and videos on forensic linguistics to understand its role in solving criminal cases.
