The Fascination of Laser Sensors

The laser has already conquered lots of applications in everyday´s life: supermarket scanners, laser metersticks and laser scanners in autonomous vehicles are common examples. In medical technology, ultra thin fiber endoscopes enter application. It will be shown how laser light can be utilized for contact-free and highly precise measurements.

Description

The contribution comprises a presentation explaining different laser measurement principles as well as accompanying experiments such as:
- portable rainbows
- laser swords
- magic aquarium

Moreover, recent photonic technologies such as optical neuromorphic computers, optogenetics and second quantum revolution (quantum imaging and communication) are introduced.

Presentations of about 45 min start from 19:00 (including magic show for children), 20:00 and 21:00 hrs in room BAR 218 (Barkhausen building).
