With the PaperBaleSensor (PBS), PTS has developed an innovative solution to determine the moisture, plastic, fibre and ash content of waste paper bales simultaneously and with high accuracy within a few minutes.
And now we are presenting the PBS live! Using a 100 kg bale of waste paper, we will show you the quality of the waste paper and explain what the sensor is used for in the paper industry.

We at PTS – Institute for Fibers and Paper gGmbH are excited to meet many science enthusiasts from Dresden.

Get hands-on experience and see up close how our PBS sensor analyzes recycled paper bales. Together, we’ll discover what materials are hidden inside – and how near-infrared spectroscopy helps make paper recycling even better.

If you’re curious, we warmly invite you to visit our booth from 5 PM onwards on the first floor of the Lecture Hall Center.

Cotton, wool or synthetic fibres – we come across fibres everywhere in our daily lives. But what do they actually look like when magnified?
Using our microscope, you can examine various natural and synthetic fibres in more detail and discover their unique structures. In doing so, you’ll learn how materials differ and why their properties vary so much. An exciting insight into the tiny world of fibres!
