ALBACOPTER® – Experimental Vertical Take-Off and Landing Glider

Relocating parts of urban traffic into the air is no longer a dream for the future. Within the Fraunhofer ALBACOPTER® Lighthouse Project, an airborne experimental platform will be developed that combines the capabilities of multicopters with the aerodynamic advantages of gliders.

Explore the ALBACOPTER® in virtual reality in original scale and learn more about Urban Air Mobility!

description

The ALBACOPTER® is the first experimental aircraft created within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with the aim of testing a wide range of high-tech developments for Urban Air Mobility and effectively showcasing them to the public.

Germany aims to establish itself as a leading market for unmanned aviation in the coming years. However, Urban Air Mobility poses contradictory requirements for both aircraft and system technology. Within ALBACOPTER®, our goal is to develop innovative technological approaches that merge the advantages of agile multicopters with the efficiency of gliders, and that also demonstrate scalability. We are creating an experimental platform that validates, demonstrates, and serves the testing of the aircraft concept.

A special focus within the project is the integration of design aspects. Through connecting function with design, an emotional aircraft is created that equally fulfills the demands of society, funding bodies, and developers. This way, an experimental technical platform is transformed into a vision able to spark fundamental enthusiasm about Urban Air Mobility!

Visit our booth and immerse yourself in a VR environment to learn about the project, its innovations, and the concepts of Urban Air Mobility!
