Aviation at your fingertips

Exhibited models and videos of spectacular measurements in the wind tunnel and in free flight convey a broader impression of the research field of aerodynamics. Guests can also take a look at the UAV laboratory, where students and staff learn and conduct research on small unmanned aerial vehicles.

description

The Chair of Flight Mechanics and Control, newly established in 2021, is located in the wind tunnel building of TU Dresden. Thus, in addition to the field of activity of classical experimental aerodynamics with measurements on aircraft, vehicles, sports applications and buildings, there is also the control engineering problem, which is expressed in the work with small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

The program includes:
- Demonstration in the wind tunnel with flow visualization through fog, wool threads and oil-soot coating,
- Videos of wind tunnel measurements in ground effect with moving band and free-flight measurements of atmospheric turbulence,
- Wind tunnel models and measurement technology from exciting previous projects,
- UAVs that have been created or are in the process of being developed as part of student projects.

The event is offered on the half hour, i.e.
- 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Due to ongoing construction work in the building, the number of participants for each round is limited to a maximum of 25.
