Nitrogen ice cream with chocolate sauce

A dish served ultra-cold! Every quarter of an hour, the physics student council will be making Neumann’s yogurt ice cream with liquid nitrogen. This will briefly take the temperature of the ice cream down to minus 196 degrees!

Price: €1 per scoop

Bonus: You can win a free scoop of nitrogen ice cream by playing the Kitty Q mobile game in the gaming lounge next door!

description

In high-tech physics labs, the temperature gets as low as minus 273.13°C – colder than in outer space! After all, the lowest “natural” temperature measured so far among the stars is “only” minus 270.43°C.

At ultra-low temperatures, unusual things happen. For example, air turns liquid at minus 182°C, while quantum materials display crazy phenomena such as lossless current conduction.

By the way, the lowest natural temperature ever measured down here on planet Earth is minus 93°C. Our ice cream is definitely a lot colder!

The physics faculty student council will be whipping up a fresh batch of Neumann’s yogurt ice cream every 15 minutes. Using liquid nitrogen, the mixture will be briefly cooled down to minus 196°C, causing it to freeze immediately. A choice of toppings is available.
